Don't Just Use Technology, Understand It: AI Expert Harish Kumar at Prabhat Khabar Pratibha Samman 2026

Jamshedpur | June 20, 2026 — Prabhat Khabar’s Pratibha Samman 2026 was held at the Michael John Auditorium, Bistupur, Jamshedpur, where meritorious students who secured outstanding marks in the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations were felicitated. The ceremony brought together students, parents, educators and dignitaries in a celebration of academic excellence.

SSP Piyush Kumar Pandey attended the event as the Chief Guest, while AI expert Harish Kumar joined as the Special Guest and delivered the keynote address to the young achievers.

“Understand the science and logic hidden behind technology”

Addressing the gathering, Harish Kumar urged students to develop the habit of understanding the science and reasoning that lie behind every piece of technology. According to him, simply using an app or a tool is not enough — it is far more important to understand how and why it actually works.

He noted that roughly once every hundred years, a technology emerges that changes the direction of the entire world. The nations that are first to understand and develop such a technology go on to lead globally. Today, he said, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics are exactly that kind of transformative force, and India’s youth should aim not merely to use these tools but to build them.

Marks are proof of hard work, but curiosity builds the future

Harish Kumar told the students that their board exam marks are proof of the hard work they have put in. However, he reminded them that future success will rest not on marks alone, but on their curiosity, logical thinking, and ability to understand and solve real problems.

Drawing on history, he pointed out that during the Industrial Revolution, the countries that developed new technologies became world powers, while those that remained mere consumers fell behind. In today’s AI era, he said, India has the chance to build its own technologies, models and solutions. India’s greatest strength, he added, is its tradition of innovation and its ability to create world-class solutions with limited resources — best demonstrated by missions such as Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan.

Three mantras for students

1. Choose understanding over scrolling

Instead of spending time on social media, invest it in genuinely understanding how technology works.

2. Strengthen the fundamentals

Build strong foundations in mathematics, logical thinking and programming.

3. Solve real problems

Work on developing solutions to the actual problems around you.

He closed with a powerful message: the future belongs to those who resolve to become not just consumers of technology, but its creators.

Enthusiasm among students and parents
