The rule that binds
The rule that binds: children's data under the DPDP Act
No tracking
The Act bars tracking, behavioural monitoring of children and targeted advertising directed at them, and any processing likely to harm a child's well-being. The DPDP Rules exempt an educational institution from the consent and tracking rules only where it tracks or monitors students for its educational activities or for their safety.
Duties and penalties
The DPDP Act sets duties and penalties for how organisations handle personal data. The DPDP Rules set how a parent's identity and age are checked before consent is accepted, and when each duty applies.
Who answers for it
The school or college is the data fiduciary and answers for processing done on its behalf. BiltIQ processes student data for it as a data processor, under a written contract. How consent is collected, and by whom, is agreed with each institution before its AI teacher's trial starts.
What it means
Today the AI Teacher's voice and embeddings default to cloud services unless they are repointed, so by default a student's spoken question is processed by a cloud voice service. For school and college trials, we plan to run AI Teacher's voice and embeddings on local models, so students' spoken questions and the book search behind each answer stay on our India servers or your own. Today these default to cloud services; we will confirm the setup in writing before your trial starts.

AI Teacher (for the student)
- Answers from the assigned course book, citing chapter, section and page. A second pass removes invented citations and checks the arithmetic.
- Answers in English, Hindi or Hinglish.
LMS (for the institution)
- Courses, video and placement assessment, with a resume-based student profile.
- Reports and SCORM/xAPI course export.
Today the AI Teacher and the LMS run as separate apps; single sign-on between them is on our roadmap.

Is there an AI tutor that answers from our own textbooks?
Yes. BiltIQ AI Teacher, part of Learning OS, answers from the course book your institution assigns and cites the chapter and page. It answers in English, Hindi or Hinglish. A second pass checks text answers against the book, removes invented citations and checks the arithmetic. Free chatbots answer from the open web; this AI teacher answers only from your book.
How much does the AI tutor cost for a college or school?
Colleges: a semester pass of ₹999 per semester for all subjects, or ₹300 per subject per semester. Schools, per student per year: Class 1–8 ₹300, Class 9–10 ₹500 and Class 11–12 ₹1,000. All are launch pricing, ex-GST, from Apr 2027 (targeted), and not yet on sale. Each institution starts its AI teacher with a 30-day free trial.
Can Learning OS run on our campus servers?
Not today. The AI Teacher can be installed on a college GPU server once its embeddings, vision and voice are repointed from their cloud defaults; BiltIQ has not yet done this at a customer site. The LMS stores course files in AWS cloud storage (India region), and its on-prem build is a roadmap item. Learning OS cannot be owned on-prem yet.
When can our school start the free AI tutor trial?
The 30-day free trial starts from Apr 2027 (targeted), with the launch. A college or school can book it now and start then; schools in Jamshedpur come first. You provide course books, a student list and a coordinator, and BiltIQ sets up your AI teacher. Results are reviewed with you on day 30.
